The fourth trimester

The first forty days, made gentle.

In many Indian homes, the weeks after birth were once a time of rest, warm food and the steady hands of an experienced elder. Sutika Home brings that care back to your home, guided by a doctor and shaped around your recovery.

Whether you had a normal delivery or a C-section, your care begins with understanding how you are healing, and is adjusted as you recover.

What is postnatal care at home?

Postnatal care at home is care for the mother in the weeks after birth, given in her own home. At Sutika Home, a trained therapist visits every day for traditional Ayurvedic therapies and diet guidance, guided by a doctor, for 7, 14, 28 or 40 days after a normal delivery or a C-section.

Often a good fit after a C-section or a long labour, when you want steady support for longer.

Your recovery

What recovery looks like.

Every mother heals at her own pace. This is roughly what the first six weeks look like, and how our care changes with you.

The first week

Your body is at its most tired. Bleeding is usually heaviest, sleep is broken and feeding is new. Care focuses on rest, warmth, gentle therapies and simple, nourishing food.

Weeks two and three

Energy slowly returns and bleeding eases. Therapies continue every day, and your therapist watches for anything that needs your doctor’s attention.

Weeks four to six

Many mothers begin to feel more like themselves, though recovery often continues beyond six weeks. Care shifts towards steady strength and routine, ahead of your six-week check-up.

After a caesarean

Gentle care after a C-section.

We care for mothers after both normal and caesarean births. After a C-section, therapies are adapted: massage and tummy binding stay away from the wound and begin only when your doctor is happy with how you are healing.

Your obstetrician’s advice always comes first. Read our C-section recovery guide.

Your safety

When to get medical help straight away

Postnatal care at home does not replace your doctor or emergency care. Contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital if you have:

  • Heavy bleeding (soaking a pad in an hour) or passing large clots
  • Fever or chills
  • A red, swollen, painful or leaking wound
  • Severe headache or changes in your vision
  • Chest pain or breathlessness
  • A painful, swollen leg
  • Feeling hopeless or very low
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or your baby

Please keep all follow-up appointments with your obstetrician and your baby’s paediatrician.

Questions

Frequently asked.

When can postnatal care begin?

Usually soon after you come home. Your doctor’s advice comes first, especially after a C-section.

Can I have these therapies while breastfeeding?

Yes. Care is planned with breastfeeding in mind, and your diet guidance supports it.

Which areas do you cover?

Tell us your city and area when you get in touch, and we’ll let you know how we can support you where you are.

What does it cost?

It depends on the length of your plan and any extras you choose. We will give you a clear, written quote on your first call.

Is this the same as hiring a nanny?

No. Our therapists focus on your recovery through traditional postnatal therapies and guidance. A nanny or helper supports day-to-day baby and household tasks.

Can postnatal care start a few weeks after delivery?

Yes. Many mothers begin in their first days at home, but care can start later too: after a C-section once your doctor is happy with your healing, or when family help leaves.

Do you care for the baby too?

Our therapists focus on your recovery. You can add baby massage and baby bath to your plan, but we don’t provide full-time baby care or a nanny service.
